New concrete floors bout 3 months old. My question is do you have to etch the floors before applying epoxy paint. Not going to be heavy traffic and I have scrubbed it with super clean.

IF you spend 15 minutes reading previous discussions. You'll get your answer, and totally understand why you dont want to acid etch your new floor.... ;)

Are you a gambling man?

Concrete floor preparation should be 80% of the labor for the entire job when it comes to any concrete coating.

If you skimp on any correct prep just think of what it will take to remove the epoxy and apply it the right way if a when it fails. That should open your eyes a bit.

dont know what part of the country you are from....but i assume there is a HD home depot close to you....rent a diamabrush machine (see photos) with a the surface prep tool attachment...this will head you down the right direction...be sure you get the surface prep tool.....NOT the mastic removal tool

i agree with the previous 2 posters....spend some time on your surface prep....and stay away from big box "garage floor kits"

let me know if you have any more questions?

Good luck

Lots of options. If you want to go with an epoxy, grind it. There are also a ton of posts and threads on the forum from those who have used Rust Bullet for garage floors. No grinding or etching.
