Concrete Gone Wrong

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice....

Background - 50 x 80 shop and just had 5" of high PSI crete with rebar and fiber mesh poured about 2 weeks ago. Highly reputable concrete contractor in my area did the job and the contract was for a hard trowel finish and sealed.

Finally had time to get in there today and after blowing it out and mopping it a couple times this is what it looks like...

Anyone have any experience with what would have caused the discoloration? Will it continue to even out over time? Contractor is coming out after the holiday and thankfully I haven't paid him yet but to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I was expecting a uniform dark concrete not this blotchy mess...

What are my options? Epoxy? grinding? redo?

nothing wrong with it. green concrete. sealer is keeping it dark. it will lighten. if you work surface hard it will be darker also I believe but it is fine

I sincerely hope you are correct... that would be such a relief. How long typically would this take to even out?

depends on a lot .how much sealer. the kind of sealer. weather and temp. a pro will chime in.

Mine looked the same after it was poured. 32'x40' garage. Wife asked what was wrong with the floor. Sure enough, it evened out over a week.

Wow... such a relief thanks guys. I was really stressing that I had a bad pour or something else was wrong. Now I feel like a dumb a$$ for freaking out

I had exact floor poured including cure sealer it's been 7 months for me and still hasn't completely lightened up. I'm tired of waiting to finish it off. From what I've been reading here I may have to grind it.

The sealer and the crete drying leads to that as long as the surface is smooth your go to go mine looks the same

Naturalgas, did you do the pour or contractor? just curious what they had to say about it. 7 months sounds pretty permanent as I can't imagine it would still be curing. Mine told me full cure in 25-30 days.

The best thing for crete is to keep it wet and cool no direct sun light for as long as you can slows the cure makes it harder. Remember the hoover dam is still curing

You will be fine once it dries out. I had mine done by pros and power trowelled to a prefect finish. It looked the same for some time, but now, is much lighter and an even colour. I had intended to do some kind of finish on it, but I like it as it is, and its easy to keep clean with an sweep and occasional vacuum.

The color variation is a high content of fly ash (but I am looking on a phone..sooo). It'll look blotchy for a while like these guys said but it'll settle down.

contractor did it. I wish now I didn't ask for it to be sealed. I was thinking sealed and done that's all I would need. Not so with a curing seal. Mine started with a couple lighter spots a couple days after pour now about 85% is lighter, but still have dark areas and still beads water. I was thinking TLPPC but not with the problems they are having . I really don't feel like grinding but I don't think I have any other option. Contractor I had was an ahole after he got the job wouldn't bother asking him.
