Is there a machine forum? I have one machine already, Newgrind 500. Curious about others. So far I've used the 500 for epoxy prep and am super happy, did a small polish job and it seemed to work good but I'm curious about planetary machines too. So far I've done 4 garages, epoxy base and polyasparic top so I'm still sorta new but things are goin well I thinkE99092D5-1F36-4E65-8BA8-68BBD02B18EB.jpegD729E89C-8BCF-460F-9EF6-DDC10DC4FADB.jpeg978AA308-901E-44DA-AEBD-83C3B85A23E8.jpeg44BBF999-3E07-4B40-A3C7-E278E8CCDBD0.jpeg

We owned a large concrete surface prep and install company (recently sold) that had almost 1.5mm in equipment in use. Short answer is that on most jobs more than one type of equipment was needed. We used Metabo 7" angle grinders with dust shrouds hooked up to proper vacs for edge work since the big machines can't get close to all edges and corners.

Planetary machines are excellent and give great results for polishing, but can be problematic for maintenance especially if used for heavy prep work where they can hit rebar and then damage the belts. Gear driven machines like Terrco and Prepmaster are virtually indestructible but don't polish quite as well. It all depends on the type of work you plan on doing. For garages what you have seems just fine, just augment with hand grinders.

Hey, thanks for the reply. At this point I can't see doing anything over 3000 ft. Lucky I have a small prep master to help on this job I have coming too , the job is time sensitive so I need to get it done.

Get the biggest planetary you can afford and that can be self-powered or generator powered on-site.
We had a few Huskys but rented big Lavinas for the larger jobs.

Also... keep in mind the more dust you throw the bigger the vac you need, we used Pulse-Bac and had no issues.

Good luck and nice looking floor!

Ya, I bought a pulse bac bagger. Works well but I think I'm goin to get a pre-seperator too. Alarm goes off often with the coarser grit. The dust deputy and my dewalt vac did work surprisingly well though .

We made our own pre-separator using a 20 gal blue barrel with a spring-lid, caster wheels with a dust-deputy on top.
I was worried the guys would damage the "brain" on the pulse-bac if they pulled it off every time to dump the dust.
Worked pretty well but was a bit top heavy.
