I'm grinding my floor this weekend using an Edco 11" with vacuum. Since I have walls, ceiling and lights installed already I was going to put up plastic sheeting but because of time constraints and being short handed for help I'm wondering if the vacuum will be enough to keep the mess down and a coating of dust off the walls and ceiling. I'm also using one of those big 36" fans to exhaust dust out of the front overhead door. I feel this will help a lot. I'm sure people here have experience with how good of the job the vacuums do on these machines.

Ok, cant help you, sorry.

Without the make and model which is probably on the vacuum itself, or on your paperwork, or the rental store knows what it is, there is no way of determining if the vacuum is enough. If they rented it to you it's probably enough?

The floor machines don't really throw a bunch if dust it's the hand grinding that usually dusts out a room. If it's 200+CFM you're prob good.

I'll add to what Benwah pointed out by noting that for any dust extraction set up to work correctly you will need properly functioning shrouds ESPECIALLY for the angle grinder! When you rent the Edco make sure that the rubber skirt that attaches to the base is there and in decent condition. You can buy universal shroud attachments for angle grinders but make sure that it is compatible with your specific grinder and is properly installed. Angle grinders with manufacturer designed shrouds are the best. The universal shrouds are a bit finicky and generally don't last. Last, but not least, Gorilla Tape is your friend and will likely be used for keeping the extractor hoses attached and modifying the Edco's skirt 9 out of 10 times.

If getting dust on your walls or ceilings is a real concern you'd be well served to find a way to cover them up.

Changed my mind, I'm going with the HD polisher with Diamabrush. I'm also going to buy a Dust Deputy and use it with my shop vac for dust extraction & clean up.

Concrete dust is nasty and I have not ground a floor. Just cut an out door slab with a wet saw. And the wet was not wet enough. Wear a mask and maybe goggles if they don’t fog.
