How much should I expect to spend to get my garage flooring ground in preparation for installation of epoxy floor coating? I am looking to do the epoxy myself, but considering hiring an experienced contractor to do the floor prep. It is a brand new garage floor.

I would expect something in the range of $1 - $1.5 per square foot.

Shea's estimate seems reasonable. Variations are your location from major urban areas, location of your site, and concrete floor condition. All of the expense is the guys showing up since other than some nominal diamond wear there is no real expense.

I did my 1800 sq ft myself, 3 man days total. Equipment rental was around $200. Had quotes for 13-1400.

We prep for a dollar a foot if it's not anything out of the ordinary. Where are you located?

If you're going to do the epoxy yourself no reason you can't do the grinding unless you don't want to do the work. Not really hard just a lot of slow walking around
