Concrete half covered in plastic after being poured...

I had a contractor pour concrete in the front of our house. When the guys were about done I commented how it looked like it was about to rain. Part of the pour is pretty well protected under a long soffit so they only covered part of the pour with a plastic sheet. The sheet was directly on top of the concrete.

So now I have a slab that is two totally different colors. Very light and blochy weird where it was covered. The section where it wasn’t covered basically looks like it should.

Any ideas how to correct this? My first idea to save this is to use an opaque stain over the everything to even it out. Any other ideas besides ripping it out? Any suggestions on what type of stain will hide this best?

It has not been sealed yet. Should I have them seal it first in a day or two and then later have it color stained? Or should it be color stained first then sealed?

Thanks for your help!

Putting poly on concrete especially without wetting it down first can alter it's appearance as you have experienced. It will eventually become less noticeable. If you can stand it, I'd wait a few months to see how much it improves. A stain or sealer might help but you'll be locking in any color difference that remains.

Mine did the same thing. After it totally dried you can't tell the difference. It took several weeks to dry.

Wait months.

keep seeing these sort of topics, folks don't seem to know how concrete acts / reacts, the timeframes involved and get concerned about 'normal' behaviours.

And it's obvious the contractors aren't doing much to inform their customers or manage their expectations.
