Concrete/masonry screws for conduit.

Hey,

Ran some conduit on brick and the screws at hand were blue and while they work I almost want to paint them.

Which got me wondering what brand/type of silver screws for attaching conduit etc to concrete/masonry the pros here are using.

I use blue screws, don't need to oversize the hole to fit a plastic sleeve with the other concrete anchors. I also use 1/4" wedge anchors and use washers and a nut if I need the extra strength.

Good call, I am not sure the last I used these type of anchors.

Just got so used to self tapping screws that I forgot about those.

I paint screws to match all the time, even blue ones. Why wouldn't you?

Yeah, that is why I normally use the blue ones too.

This was for a friend in an old brick live in basement with everything surfaces mounted and it looked all good until I started to see the blue heads everywhere.

Friend did not care but if I would do something like that for myself I would not want blue screw heads.

I've only used them in drywall, but supposedly Walldogs work like a TapCon.

Never heard that one.

I wonder if that is the same as shoving some wood shavings in there if things get a bit loosey goosey.

^^ sort of the same. the copper wire acts as a shim to tighten the hole, it's soft enough to allow a self tapper to thread into it.
It creates a really good bond .

We use a lot of Hilti screws at work. Silver, and grab better than tapcons. They do require Hilti's bits with the correct tolerance. They're also expensive.

I use either tapcons or plastic anchors and stainless #10x1" screws quite often outside of work.

I have found it easier to shoot nails into the concrete my Ramset then drill holes and turn the screws.

i end up needing to do that with tapcons in brick half the time. the brick around here is soft, and doesn't hold threads.

I find them to be superior to Tapcons in concrete.
