Concrete Not Grinding!

Today I rented a Edco dual disc concrete floor grinder and a edco turbo7" edger style floor grinder. I also got the vacuum to go with it. I started out with doing the perimeter with the edger. It had a cup style diamond disc on it. Seemed to work well. I then went on to use the dual disc grinder with the dymaserts. To my surprise this unit was barely doing anything to the floor. It was like taking steel wool to the concrete. Didnt change the finish 1 bit. I switched them out for some really course stones. Same exact thing. The floor was poured 90 days ago. It has a really smooth finish and it is a home garage. There are ares on the garage floor that have spilt latex interior wall paint. The dual disc grinder will not remove it.

You may have glazed the serts by not having weight on it from go.
Have the rental place take a look, they may be able to help you with a new set or maybe they can knock the glaze off.

If dymaserts are metal bond diamond segments then they are too hard. You need soft bond dymaserts. Otherwise you need to slow down the rpm and use them wet where the diamonds are working in a mud type of slurry.

I got a brand new set of dymaserts from the rental company and I tried pumping water to the machine and that seemed to do the trick!

SAND!!! I just did this two weeks ago and it made a huge difference in the grinding action.

The two pictures below show before / after with the dymaserts and sand.

I probably should also mention I had a 200 pound log on top of the machine, lol

Would you mind giving us some specifics? How long did the process take? What size is your garage? How much did the rental and pads cost? Did they have an option for higher grit polishing pads?

The floor looks fantastic, by the way! Thanks for the pictures.
