Hey All- Wondering what the opinion is on just painting concrete using concrete paint rather than epoxy. Looking for a simple, easy install and figured rolling on some concrete paint would be easiest and cheapest but just wanted to get an opinion.
Thanks

If you use wheeled chairs/benches/carts, etc, it’s going to wear fairly quickly in my opinion. It looks good new though. If you are not hard on things, may work for you

Concrete paint is easy to apply and inexpensive. It works OK for foot traffic only. As the previous post stated, anything other than urethane wheels that roll on it or objects that inadvertently drag or get rubbed across the surface will quickly wear through. Vehicle tires will peel it up where they sit after a short while. One advantage is that you can quickly touch it up and it tends to blend well like paint on a wall. It's definitely not a long-term flooring option.

There's a little more to it than "rolling on some concrete paint" but I like the painted floor in my garage. It looked beautiful when new but it's been there for 9 or 10 years now. I degreased the floor and washed it off. Then I acid etched it and rinsed it off. Then came primer and then the paint. I spent a little extra for blue paint but could've bought grey in 5 gallon buckets cheaper.

One of the biggest benefits is that it keeps moisture from coming up through the concrete in the Summer.

I painted my concrete basement floor eleven years ago. It was new concrete, only a couple months old. (I hired a guy to help me and we busted up the old floor and dug it down to low the floor about six inches. Whew!)

I used primer on the concrete and concrete paint over the primer. It's held up fine to foot traffic. No peeling or worn spots at all. That said, I'll probably recoat it with something when I get around to remodeling. Tired of the plain-Jane light tan color.

I used white epoxy floor paint in my basement workshop a few years ago, seems to be holding up well…

Acrylic Latex Paint
Acrylic latex's easy application is also ideal for amateurs because you won't need special brushes, rollers, and complex tools to get an even, polished application. Acrylic latex also has the bonus of being a very affordable option when compared to other paints for concrete

We just did a video about the differences between concrete garage floor paint and actual epoxy coatings. It's a bit long I know... We are new to doing these. However, it does discuss what to expect from each including the pros and cons.

When you say "concrete paint" I think of Thoroseal or BASF Masterseal 581, paints that are concrete-based. Did you mean to say "paint for concrete"

I see a lot of painted basement floors and garages, most of the time it lasts a few years and starts disappearing. It doesn't flake, the areas with use seem to go back to concrete. It's extremely hard to get these softer coatings to stick over the years, water moving through the concrete will push them off but if you wire brush back down, you can always recoat, it might be three years, it might be 20 or more if it's a dry part of the country.
