Hello, Long time Lurker first time post. Ive gotten many ideas from this forum that helped me make the garage I have today possible. Im in the process of making a big change to my garage which is moving my metal fabrication business to my home shop. Before equipment moves in and a few cars move out I want to refinish the floors and am having a hard time deciding what will be best for my situation. Hoping to get some input from the pros or members that have done what Im thinking.
I got a quote to Grind, Black Concrete Stain and a High Gloss Polish that was actually way cheaper then I expected. I have read all the threads regarding the pros and cons of a polished floors. My garage is made up of a lot of reclaimed metals and woods and I collect original paint/ patina cars,. With that being said I think I'm fine with a naturally worn polished floor, meaning I don't need it to stay like a new showroom floor but also don't want tire marks and other annoying marks / stains. Shop is used to store / display cars, Restore cars in one bay that is not pictured and I will have a sheet metal shop moving in soon. After showing the contractor pics of the actual space he is now recommending a Grind / Black Concrete Stain and seal with an Endurable Concrete Sealer. This is basically same price if not more then the polished concrete quote. After giving a few days thought Im thinking I want a natural finish with no sealers that can possible fail me like the first sealer I applied and did not have good results. What are your guys thoughts? Will Radial tires / Bias Ply tires mark Polished concrete? Anyone heard of Endurable Sealers? Maybe I just clean and Mop the dirty floors I have as its a natural concrete (Patina Floor) Lol.
