Hello
I'm new here.

I'm seeking advice from more experienced individuals.

I have been prepping my garage floor. I ground all the edges with a diamond cup wheel.

I rented a floor maintainer, and used both heads from diamabrush. I used the removal tool it had paint from before. Then I used the concrete prep tool plus.

Spent hours taking the top layer off.

I still need to fill in all the cracks.

Now im worried its the concrete is not prepped enough. Do I need to do it again?

I've attached some pictures.

Also I'm looking to put down a coating by Armorgarage, called armor chip with military top coat. Has anyone heard of this brand? If so thoughts on it?

Any advice would be great, Thank you.

What makes you think it’s not good enough?

I'm worried because i've never this before, I want it to be correct. Its smooth and gritty, top layer was taken off. I don't want it to fail because I didn't grind properly. What are your thoughts? Thank you.

Did you use a vacuum with the grinder? That’s the only possible problem. A little grit is ok as it bites in more then perfect smooth. I mopped mine several times as I stupidly did not use a vacuum when grinding. I blew it out then swept then still had to mop to get the dust off.
Get several measured buckets and timers and follow instructions like you’re mixing explosives. If you are doing sections don’t toss flake near the edge. Mine looked less then desired as I did 9 sections and the flake showed the borders.
It is intimidating. Lots of money to screw up.
In retrospect I could have done 3 sections instead of the 9 I did. Did not setup on the floor as fast as I thought. If you have a helper it’s a good idea.

I did use a vacuum, i'm going to vacuum one more time before I lay it down. Thank you for your advice kaizen. I'm going to be doing it this coming weekend. And put all those tips in play.

I haven't thought about pulling it out. Would it be a better idea to remove? Or leave in and caulk the seam?
Your choice. I’ve never seen it apart from the US.

If it was me, and it’s a personal choice, I would remove it. The suppliers on here might have some options for you to use.

Not sure this is the appropriate place to ask this question. Has anyone had any experience with "Laeggari" epoxy coatings? Been doing research for months and this has been highly recommended by many. Lots of videos on You Tube....any insight?

Thanks

Koehler87, it looks well prepped.

If it were me, I'd pressure wash it to get all dust off it, and let it get bone dry - the length of time varies based on your climate.

Another approach: use paper towels wadded up (never rags or cloth - even brand new ones), soaked with acetone to clean the surface. It picks up dust/crud and dries very fast.

The best method to solvent wipe is using a microfiber mop and acetone or denatured alcohol. You may need many clean mop heads. I always finish with a clean, dry mop.

Make sure you use primer on this project as any mechanically prepped floor must be primed to even out the porosity and prevent over-soaking of the 100% solids epoxy.
