I'm going to be prepping my floor this weekend and applying some type of epoxy (undecided at the moment) next weekend. This is a 300 square foot single car detached garage. The slab is decades old with alot of paint, oil, and other stains on it so I'm going to be renting the Home Depot machine with the concrete grinding disc for it.
My questions are do I need to worry about etching or degreasing before or after the grinding or is the grinding itself enough? Should I be wet or dry grinding? The slab does not have any cracks but is chipped up a bit in one area that I want to fill in. What product should I use and should I be filling before or after grinding?
Like I mentioned above I'm undecided on what coating I'm going to go with so any suggestions there are appreciated as well. Do you think I have a chance of having success with the cheaper 1 part epoxys since I'll be grinding the concrete and hopefully having a well prepped surface? The garage is used for working on cars so will be exposed to oil, grease, coolant, other fluids.
