Looking for a round about price to have a 20' X 18' patio poured. Location is northwest Indiana.

Concrete calculator shows 4.4 yards. I pay in VA $140/yard.

Labor is pretty variable. Do you need to excavate much? Can you form it yourself?

NE IL Suburbia I get $4.75-$6.50 per SF for simple flatwork by others, including demo and base prep as needed. Many variables, but for a patio it should be on the lower of the price range.

Can you do it yourself? I purchased form stakes, formed myself, did overkill on a slab with rebar and mesh, all tied together and on chairs. My wife and daughter helped.

First time, but came out well and no cracks after quite a few Maine winters. Came out ahead on price, and definitely on quality.

5 or 6 years ago. $125 / yd for 3000# mix. Not great on the lingo, but medium ish slump so it was easier to work.

In addition to per-yard cost there may be a short load fee. My last short load (5 cy) I paid $150, but my site was 30 miles from the plant.

I paid $100 a yard for 3000 psi last year. But 4.4 yards you would pay an additional charge for it being a short load.

I hear $100~130/yard here, varies. Note as above - unless you get to 5 yards plus, you'll pay WAY more. Some will charge the same for 3 or 4 yards as they would for yards in a full truck, plus the delivery charge. Better ask around. To have it done, $5~8 sq/ft is also a number.

I guess I'm missing something --- how does the calculator get 4.4 yards without knowing how thick the pour is? Can anyone enlighten me?

I paid $130/yd with smith a few years ago. Figure $20/yard for gravel. I suggest either making it bigger or thicker to get to 5 yds to avoid shortload charge. 20x20 will get
4.94 yards. If you're hiring a contractor it depends can thr truck get to where your placing the concrete? If not its going to cost more. Same goes for the excavation
