Concrete resurfacing dry time ?

Getting different stories on dry times, so I'll throw out this question here.

I'm considering resurfacing the concrete garage floor with some Quikrete self leveling concrete.

Here's a couple of questions I have:

As far as prep work goes (besides a thorough cleaning), do I need to smooth out any irregularities before putting it down ?

I had started filling in over some rough spots, but if the self leveling stuff is going to cover this, I won't need to continue what I have started ...

but more importantly:

What is the actual dry time when I can put my rolling tool boxes and my car back in the garage ?

One concrete guy I know says you should be able to walk on it in approximately 30 minutes, and that I should be able to park in there by the end of the day.

A guy at a big box store suggested I wait at least 48 hours before parking the car in there ...

:dunno:

I don't think the Quikcrete resurfacer is the proper product for this application, bonding will be an issue. An epoxy product should be considered.

It depends on what his goal is.

gjz30075, what are you looking to do? If you are looking to cover up a rough aged concrete surface with a smooth top the Quikcrete should be what you want. Epoxy will just protect the floor underneath but you will still have the rough patches.

Judging by your pic you seem to be on the right track in my opinion.

I have used a liquid bonding agent that is brushed on concrete to help with adhesion. I used this when extending a storage slab floor, worked good.
