I’ve got a 20 y/o stamped concrete driveway. In pretty good general shape. Every 5-7 years I power wash it and reseal.

It’s been getting pretty grungy looking with areas where years of dirt collected and it’s black (from a beige tinted concrete) in areas where dirt lingers, and green in shady places where the algae was 1/4” thick. I bought myself a present and got one of those surface washers that attach to the pressure washer (which surprised me by starting after the first pull after sitting for 5 years). The twirly nozzle thingy did a quite admirable job on cleaning up the concrete without leaving stripes.

However, the old sealer is worn thin and gone in areas. It needs to be resealed (before I get too old to care). I’ve used “cure and seal” (wears of quickly), Eagle Supreme (for brushed/stamped) in the past. Went to pick some up and they’ve only got the gallon cans in clear. I’ve used the brown tinted and it takes easy 10 gallons to finish. They did have the Eagle Premium Aggregate (with the tint) in 5 gallon buckets on clearance for 1/2 off. I picked up 10 gallons.

Got to thinking, what’s the functional difference between the two? I figure if it sticks to concrete and exposed pebble chunks, it’ll probably stick to concrete and small surface pebble bits about the same.

Anybody use one vs. the other on the “non ideal” surfaces? Looked on Eagle’s site and there’s nothing there specifically about using one for the other surface type. The ingredient listings are the same, so I’m guessing a bit more of one cancer causing compound vs another cancer causing compound. (I’m not in California, so not too worried about that part.)
