Concrete slab base question.

My contractor is wanting to use caliche as the base for my 30x40 slab. What are your thoughts on this. Found here is really hard clay. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ask him if there is "verified Proctor density data" for the material on file where he is getting the material.

If he says no... tell him only materials with "verified Proctor density data" is acceptable...
