Concrete slab question

I have a very basic question and my google searches have turned up no answers.

I found garage blueprints online, however I am looking for something with a "rat wall" perimeter made of concrete block. The garage is to be built in Florida, so my purpose for a raised perimeter wall made of concrete is to avoid moisture retention.

If I wanted to hose out the garage or something like that, I wanted to avoid saturating a stick built wall that is in contact with the concrete slab.

I know people have done this, but what specifically do I need to ask for when ordering plans?

Alot of places want you to buy plans before answering questions like that. Any thoughts on this idea?

Thanks.

Concrete stem wall is what they're called here in pa. Mine is about 8" off the floor.

Same here. Mine is a block off of ground level or floor level. I know Fla. pours a lot of slabs. Some people come back in and pour a "rat wall" on top of the slab. Other will lay concrete block on top of the slab. Where I'm at, the standard practice is a footer down 36", foundation poured or laid in block up above ground level, then a floor poured inside.

I call them stem walls too. My city had a 9' limit to the height I could make my walls on my detached garage, so I made my stem walls extend 12" above the garage floor. I wanted 10' ceilings.

Thanks for the replies guys, it does help since I am just learning this stuff. The one plan I am looking at shows the foundation option as "footing and foundation wall".

From what I see, this will be flat on the surface, offering nothing like a stem wall. Is it difficult to add a stem wall to existing plans?

Thanks

The footing is at the bottom of the foundation wall or stem wall(same thing i think).. Have your forms built tall enough to give you the concrete you want above the slab.

In FLA you just have a normal slab poured and the lay block around the outsde to set your wall on.
Walk around town a bit.
You will see a lot of it.
