Concrete Staining

I finished my Garage Floor using concrete stain.

A contractor wanted about $4k to do it including diamond cutting.

I did it my self for about $300.00. I diamond cut the floor, cleaned it, grouted the lines to give an old world look, stained it, nuetralized it, then used a semi gloss sealer.

After five years I need to reseal it again. But i am very happy with the looks and results.

I've been thinking the same. Is this a semi transparent stain or the acid etch type? As I understand it, all the HD/Lowes stains are really more paint like (that will wear) rather than the acid etch'ed in stain that will not wear. Your floor looks nice! and it looks like what I've seen in the acid type that seems to be only available at a concrete contractor type supply house.

hey that looks nice, coolreed
i just finished staining and sealing my floor with copper sulfate and 4 coats of sealant.
the blue/green milkiness is hard to capture on camera
it's in my garage thread
i had to grind 37 year old concrete that was sealed years and years ago.

i used 4 coats of Seal Krete (gloss) from lowes for $28/gal.
....that is, 3 gallons for $84 to cover over 850 sq ft.

it's not epoxy.. i have no previous experience with it, but it is equally criticized & praised.
I called Seal-Krete to determine how to refresh the floor in the future.
no grit has been applied, so liquids need cleaned-up.
i prepped the 37year old concrete as best i could..
but this floor is pretty pitted and cracked, and I didn't want to spend several hundreds of dollars to properly smooth the concrete, apply epoxy, and then to watch epoxy fail over time.
i did it cheap so i may upgrade to tile in the future.. if i can tile over a sealed floor, that is.
