Concrete veneer

We put in a new sidewalk up to the great big old concrete front step. It is sound but looks a little worn and tired.

Anyone have any experience in putting some sort of veneer over concrete ? Any tips or products you would care to pass on ?

Anything to stay away from ?

I'm thinking stick on and not troweled on.

I have seen the 12" cement paver blocks attached to an existing porch with 3M5200 marine adhesive...going on 10 years now, on the vertical.

Most of us would knock out the loose stuff, repair any block grout and parge up the porch. You can leave it rough, or trowel it smooth and then masonry paint on it.
