I just purchased a new property that has a 36x50 pole barn on it. It has ridge and soffit vents. No insulation on walls or roof meaning under the skin. It has 14' ceilings with 1/2" foil facing down ceiling. Ive researched on building polebarns before and i knew how i was going to build one to avoid the condensation. Since i purchased this property with the garage up this is what I have to deal with. Ive noticed the building drips at night when humid, so far ive seen the drips only coming off the eves onto the ground. The ceiling has no attic hatch as of yet but I can only assume that its dripping onto the 1/2" ceiling. The garage does have a forced hot air heater installed already, not ideal but its there. Should i remove all the foil 4x8 sheets from ceiling and attach them to the underside of the roof skin to combat moisture? Or leave well enough alone, blow in cellulose and insulate walls with r19? I would like to combat the condensation issues to extend the life of the garage.
