Condensation on Epoxy coated floor?

Built my detached garage last summer/fall, and epoxy coated the floor in the fall. I noticed yesterday that underneath the vehicles, there was condensation on the floor. Right now the garage interior is unfinished, no insulation, no heat, nothing. It was very warm yesterday, and the slab was still very cold. I assume this is just due to the weather and the cold slab? I never noticed it in my attached garage, also unfinished, but the floor in that is bare concrete, so it may just get absorbed by the floor.

Yep... its simply warm air vs. cold concrete=condensation on floor... my garage was doing the same thing this weekend. I have VCT tile, but it doesn't really matter, even a bare concrete floor can show signs of dampness/condensation. Don't worry, it will be back down to freezing by wednesday and the condensation will go away again until the next warm day.

yup, mine did that too a few times, kinda makes the floor slippery.

Did your Floor Application Specialist properly test you floor before that Coating was applied? Sounds like your slab was not properly prepared with underlayment/insulation.

Be prepared for theat wonderfull epoxy to lift in a couple years

Here's an easy way to tell cendensation from seepage:

1. Find 2x2 foot area of floor that you will not walk on (maybe 2 or 3 areas for complete test)
2. Clean and dry it
3. Place a plastic garbage bag over the clean, dry area
4. Tape it/them securely to the floor on four sides
5. Wait 7-10 days
6. Remove platic bags

A. If still clean and dry = you have condensation; no problem
B. If mositure is under bag = you have problems and the epxoy will lift eventually

I've had my floor epoxied for the last 7 yrs. I have the same condition every spring with the warm humid air.

Crank the heat.

Nope, definitely condensation on top, not from below, already checked. Just never noticed condensation like that in my other garage. Cranking the heat would be great if I had any! Hopefully will have the $$ to do the insulation/heating/cooling/etc over the summer.
