Hey guys, and gals,

First post, so sorry, lol. I just got a all steel building from carolina carports a 24x30 with 10 ft walls. It's been about a week since it's been up. I put a few toolboxes and such and Ive been in and out almost everyday. But I noticed midday some of my tools in the toolboxes would be a little damp. Like the morning dew.. any thoughts?

Should I put a vent in or something what's a good insulation for a metal building? I have 2 8x9 bay doors and a walk in.

Thanks for the help!

You don't list where you are located but I believe anywhere the dew point is reached with available moisture in the air, that moisture condensation is a fact of having a metal building. When warmer moist air contacts a cooler metal surface, condensation happens. Perhaps the proper insulation will help.

Metal has nothing to do with the problem. Condensation can form on any surface. Controlling the dew point is what is required. Identify the source of moisture. Could be concrete slab, ambient air or any number of things. Could be a few solutions but insulation will probably be the easiest.

I think you will find you are going to have to cover the metal with foam board, insulation, plywood etc. to keep the air from contacting the metal. I have 2 of those buildings that are closed in on 3 sides and some days it is like it is raining inside of them. They are both un-insulated . I have a air tight 50 ft shipping container which does not sweat but there is no air coming in it.
