I've got a couple of projects that require a new circuit. The layout requires part conduit and part "romex" run. The conduit piece will be around 10 to 15 feet of a 80 foot run.

Can I use Romex for the entire run? If so, do I have to remove the outer shield for the length of the conduit? Or will I have to install a box to connect the different wire types (single vs multiple)

you cant remove the jacket of the romex. The inner wires arent marked and cannot be run individually. If you run the romex inside conduit be mindful of your fill. Also you must use the proper connector where the romex enters the conduit.

If the conduit is outside at all NM (Romex) cannot be used as a conduit outdoors is defined by the NEC as a wet location & NM cable is allowed in dry locations only.
