Conduit ****** and Bell Box

I want to connect this single gang bell box to a non-fusible ac disconnect switch. I want to use the side KO of the bell box shown to the side KO of the disco with a ****** or rigid coupler as the path. My question is, if using a ******, do I still have to have a locknut on both sides of the bell box being that it's threaded?

Also, my preference would be to use a rigid coupler since I think it looks cleaner but not sure what exact parts I need if I'm able to.

Thanks!!

The knockouts in the disconnect are going to be too far out for that plan. You're going to need an offset ****** or some kind of spacer to hold the Bell Box off the wall enough to line them up.

If you are willing to go to enough work, the Rigid coupler would work by screwing a close ****** into one end of it and the other end into the box. Then use a chase ****** through the disconnect and into the other end of the coupler.

I'd probably just go with an offset ****** so you can account for the differences in depth in the knockouts on the boxes.

As always, appreciate the help....all tips noted!

Regarding the bell box side KO's, if you use a ******, I'm still not clear on what locknuts are needed, inside/outside/both/none. This is for my own knowledge regardless if I use the ****** or not. All the discussions I've read about ******* and locknuts have been for non-threaded KO's, and I'm not sure if the sidewall one is treated any different than the top/bottom ones on the bell boxes, as the top/bottom ones have a lot more threads.

If I need to use an offset, I think I'd rather use a LB, but I want to use a metal one even though I'm using PVC conduit. So with the metal LB, can I just use a chase ****** at the disco, and close ****** with female pvc adapter at the pipe end?

No lock nuts I needed inside or outside of the bell box. When attaching to the side of the disconnect, you should use at the minimum a sealing lock nut or preferably a hub.

with that being said, I would not do it the way you are wanting to. I would come out the bottom of the ball box and come in the bottom of the disconnect with a product called liquid tight. Entering the bottom of both of the boxes is a better practice.

Bell boxes have threaded hubs so no need for a lock nut on that end, if entry is made on the lower end of the disco no hubs or sealing locknut required a lot of the pullout discos will not allow side, only bottom entry to them.

I want to stay as close to the disconnect as possible due to the wall space I'm working with so I excluded bottom entry.

I have a Eaton non-fusible disco and it has a 1/2 & 3/4" concentric KO on the sides. They're below the wire connections inside the dicso.

Ok, so after evaluating the responses, I think I went down the wrong road to begin with. It wasn't a good post for me to push the bell box idea. I should have left my options open with LB's as well. With that said, I want to use a LB instead so here's my proposal:

Starting at the disco's side-KO: double locknut on a 2"L rigid ******, threaded into rigid LB, close rigid ****** threaded onto female PVC adapter, and PVC pipe onward to JB.

Will this meet code?

I want to stay metal as much as possible except the conduit since this wall gets direct sun for several hours a day, hence the metal LB. This wall is very dry and rarely ever gets hit by rain so that's why I'm not concerned about using the side KO.

Thanks again.
