Conduit run

I will be running conduit from my barn to a pavilion which I plan to include 1 20A circuit, 1 cat 6. In the same trench will be a separate water line. My question would be, is it ok (or wise)to put the wire for the 20A circuit and cat 6 wire in the same conduit?

Not specifically against code, but the Cat wire would have to have a voltage rating equal to the line voltage in the conduit, which isn't available.

There is also an issue with interference.

You would be well advised to pull more than a 20A 110 circuit. Pull emough wires for a 30A 120/240 2p3W MWBC

Nothing in the pertinent national codes, some local codes may address this, and even more likely, some individuals may have claimed to "have heard" that both in the same trench wasn't allowed.

Utilities can have their own rules when services are involved, but your work is only under the IRC and the NEC

If your running conduit, UF is uneccesary. Number 12 is undersized for 30A anyway. Run #10 THWN

Only asked as I already have some 12/3 UF and thought about using it to make 2 20A circuits. I would run the 12/3 to a sub in the pavilion and then run the 2 20A runs from there.

Pulling UF is just harder, but if you have the room, lube and muscles, it fine.

If more than one building or other structure is on the same property, each building/structure must be served by no more than one feeder or single or multiwire branch circuit [225.30]

Do yourself a big favor...and lay an extra or two conduit...maybe 1" or so.

Some day, at some point...you will be glad you did.

Anytime I have a trench open, I usually drop at least one extra electrical conduit...and sometimes a water line...in case I want to add stuff later...cheap and easy...

My place is about 1.5 acres with two detached garages, tree lights, septic field 500' away from the septic tank near the lake...and a dock with power, water, gas etc.

So I have run about 3000' of trench over the years...always have run 2-3 extra electric...probably have used about 30% of the extras I have buried...but the days of work and effort saved more than paid for the extra conduit, waterline and gas line...

Actually it is against code IF the CAT wire is NOT rated for the voltage.

There is however, CAT wire rated for higher voltage for use in trays.

The max to a detached is one circuit and a MWBC is counted as on circuit.

I have never used an extra, if I would have buried some it would have been in the wrong spot. Have never went back to bury another in the same location. Let alone 2 or 3 extras. The water line and the gas line I have buried were not "extra" they were used.

My total run from the barn to the pavilion will be approx 75-85 feet so it makes sense to throw in a empty conduit (with poly line) for any future needs.

On the wiring side, could I run #10 THHN to a small sub panel in the pavilion and then put in 2 15A circuits from there?
