Going to be pulling about 400 feet of 2/0-2/0-2/0-1 through conduit with 3 or 4 45* sweeps. Was thinking of using 2" or would 3" really make things any easier?

Yes, it would, could even go down to 2.5 for ease. 2 inch can be done but a little tough.

I doubt there is a lot of cost difference between 2 1/2 and 3 but 400 ft is long.

Do you plan on bringing the URD into the structure? If so, it's not allowed inside. Most URD is only rated USE-2 and has to be terminated outside of the structure. If the wire also carries a rating of RHH/RHW-2 then it can be run inside.

Why so many sweeps? Are there any 90's for stubbing up?

Ended up with 500' of 3" conduit to a box. Then another 120' to RV. The pull went extremely well, so well I thought something bad must be around the next corner. Nope. All is good and bye-bye generator!

Karl, just out of curiosity, on your 4 wire URD, was it dual rated, where it can be ran inside the structure as PattenP has stated above
Does the neutral conductor have a white stripe or yellow stripe for identification?

The odds are if the wire is labeled as URD Quadruplex the neutral is yellow striped and three phase conductors are just black and the cable is only rated as USE-2.

Oh, OK. The reason I asked, we had a lengthy conversation about this at the supply house (several occasions) (I started posting this in another thread, but deleted it?)
Supply house guy says URD has a 6' rule, it has to be terminated within 6' of entering building (Never heard that and I dont think it exsists) he ends up calling manufacturer, maunufacturer rep states that URD with yellow stripe neutral cannot enter building, URD with white stripe neutral is dual rated and can enter building. This is a smaller supply house, they do not carry MHF, it is URD or XHHW on the alum. side
I just wanted to confirm the above info?
I have never used MHF, does it have the same insulation rating as URD
or are they the same as one?
Anyway, glad you got it pulled in Karl, 400' pull can be a bear. I am in the 4th week of waiting for the power company to tie my barn in, I was told we are waiting for a traffic permit to shut one lane down?

My cable is not for use inside. I transition at the structures.
The cable I got has no colored marking, for either neutral or ground. I colored taped them and then PoCo wanted phase markings on the 4/0 from meter to weatherhead.

There is no such code like that for URD.

In regards to insulation, u have to look at the rating. As u said some URD is dual rated. RHH/RHW is the rating that allows it to be ran inside...

No URD and MHF is NOT the same cable. URD is for power distribution usually used by PoCos for underground service laterals. URD will have either a yellow or white stripe neutral. But no designated EGC/ground. MHF is used primarilly for feeders but could be used in the same applications URD is used in. MHF has a white stripe neutral and green striped EGC...

I kept telling him that there was NO 6' rule, thats when he made the phone call. I have never used MHF cable. I usually make transition inside the meter base while using URD (URD to line side) (THHN or XHHW load side - inside to panel, usually whatever scrap pieces I have left over)
