Conex prices

I’ve done a pretty good search of conex prices in the Austin, Texas area. Including getting a box from San Antonio and Houston delivered.

Best I can do is $4,000 delivered for a one-trip 20’ box. Standard height and doors on one end.

I got my 40’ high cube, doors on both ends at $5,500 delivered 10 years ago.

I keep reading that conex prices are softening. But not seeing it on the retail end.

How are prices in your area?

Look around, shop Facebook Marketplace look harder. There are people that practically give them away.

I commented on it before but A friend of mine bought two freshly painted 20 footers with cheap racking inside for $750 each. he had to move them. He picked up a few for a few hundred each

The same guy just just picked up nine twenty footers for $300 each! $2700 for the lot, he had to move them, but it was a mile from his shop and he has a large loader and semi trailers.

He is thinking about advertising them for $1500 delivered within 20 miles.

This was posted on Austin Craigslist a few minutes ago under "General for sale".

I figured the craigslist stuff for houston would cover galvenston. But will double check. The one-trips I’ve seen are pretty consistent quality. The used are all over the map. I’m not a facebook user but will see if I can piggy back on someone’s account. Thanks

FB, they list the lowest price for the biggest piece of **** in stock. You won't get a real price until you talk to them.
But I found that most suppliers (that were in central Texas) were within a few hundred of each other.
I bought a 20' one trip Connex about 4 years ago, it was $3700 or so all in.

4-5k area for 20ft, 6-7k area for 40ft.

The rona caused issued with getting connexs, for a while shipping outfits weren't selling them and even looking for good used units to buy for shipping.

They have really gone up here in NW Arkansas. Prices on a 20 ft cube went from 2500 is to 3500 to 4k. Covid inflated prices, and they don't seem to be coming down here...

Yep, covid definitely ran the prices up and created a shortage. My understanding is the companies in the US started building their own to address the supply chain stuff. You'd think there would be a surplus eventually... Maybe now that China is coming out of covid-restrictions?

Buddies work just bought 3, all 1 trippers and were required to be matching paint, no dents and no logos...boss is particular. 1 40' high cube and 2 20' standards delivered(about 120 miles 1 way) and was just shy of $20k for all of them.

Can I ask who you received that price from?
Sure, looked up a couple local places on mp, this one was in oceanside. Looking for 2 twentys, 1900$ each, one way boxes. There are a bunch of places selling for this price, really need to call and hammer out a deal.

Mission accomplished….mostly.

The delivery was a complete clusterfluffle. The guy (young 20s) had a 2022 Dodge Ram dually and a 40 foot trailer. I told him it might be tight and that we should walk the turn around first.

Then I had to physically stop him at the entrance to my place since he was just going to drive in.

We walked it. Then he just plunged in. Crushed my culvert on one corner. Then got to the turn around and sort of gave up. He said, “I’m stuck. We‘re going to have to cut down those trees.”

Beg pardon? 6” and 8” oak trees right where I want them. I said not gonna happen.

Then he called his mom. Seriously. The next 2 hours were him complaining and chain smoking cigarettes and saying “I’ve got to get out of here.” And slowly backing up the way he came in. About 25 yards. Then stop and complain some more. The slightest obstacle stopped him. I’m moving steel, piles of firewood, chainsawing brush, etc to make room for him.

He’s wearing some silly loafers, a silk shirt, and a rattlesnake belt. Kept stepping on mesquite thorns and cussing. He says “my business is drop and go.”

At one point he turned to me and said “did you tell me all this **** was here?” Referring to general stuff along the road (firewood, steel, brush piles). The 35 year gap between us was too large for meaningful communication. I calmly said “that’s why we walked it.”

To his credit, he took it like a man. 😂

Anyway, he eventually got to a place where he could jam the trailer back into the mesquite and that allowed him to turn around. And left it in the middle of the road.

I was happy enough to have him gone. I’ll figure out a way to get it where I want it with the jeep and winch.

New one-trips are nice. It’s full of promise.

$3,350.

He stood me up for our meeting so I was a little pissed. I was willing to walk at his rock bottom price of $3,500 and he stopped me on the way back to the jeep.

That's not so bad, our last guy showed up with a 26000 lb 2wd and sunk it to the axle in the backyard, but he did get the boxes close to where we wanted.

Pricing is very region dependent. Here in Montana you get well used rough 20 footers for over 4k and 6k for a 40. They are dented, rusty and mushy flooring.

Your delivery story makes me glad I found a skilled pro with the right equipment to deliver mine. Between some tight corners on a narrow driveway and an odd turnaround area, it required skill and the right equipment. Oh, and it ended up right where I wanted it.

Thanks. If you let me know where you saw it, I can probably tell if it’s one I’ve looked at.

A couple I saw are a hard pass unless you want a big project.

Thats a heck of a deal. Not going to touch anything like that for that price in south dakota. Most of ours would come out of Twin cities in Mn or Omaha Ne.

Literally in exact same scenario as I'm looking for a 20' one trip in Austin area. glad to hear you can get under 4k if you try hard enough. Craigslists is all advertisements, so just need to walk a yard and see what's available.

a 20ft would pay itself off in about a year. 20ft rentables of Packrat/Units/PODS/etc are about $180+/mth
