Hi All

Just trying to confirm that the lift arms get torqued to the carriage on the mohawk system 1 to 1000 ft-lbs. Of course I'm only getting to this now and I've got a couple of phone messages in to the dealer and mohawk head office but being Christmas ...

The install manual only covers the torque setting under annual maintenance, not the install.

So, is 1000 right?

1000 fl lbs is very high, its more like 1000 in lbs. In my job I torque bolts on building, some of these bolts are huge and they only get torque to 688 ft lbs. My torque wrench is eight feet long and it take everything i can give it . a 1000 would take a 16 foot torque wrench.

My thoughts also.
I liked to see a scan of that instruction manual.

We've done 700 ft/lbs at work fairly routinely with a 5 ft torque wrench, any higher we usually go for a high torque (hydraulic torque wrench). A muliplier would also work with a smaller torque wrench.

From my manual (sorry no scan)

"verify all fasteners to proper torque
swing arm nuts to 1000 ft-lb
carriage stop fasteners to 170 ft-lb
carriage side roller nuts to 300 ft-lb
lifting rod nuts to 720 ft-lb
cylinder top bolt to 720 ft-lb"

so, while my question certainly is redundant, this is in the maintenance section as it isn't listed in the install section. I think it's safe to say that when one "verifies" a setting, that's where is should be originally right?

I'm planning on buying a torque multiplier as my largest 1/2" torque wrench will provide a max of 250 ft-lb.

If that is what the manual says, I would be inclined to go with it. Wow, that is allot of torque!!!

You should see the installers do it, they ain't never seen a torque wrench but as long as they are tight it wont matter. They ran the bolts dry on mine with a crappy air gun and seized them.
