Conflicted about titan tools

So i'm in dallas for week and decided to visit Northern Tools. Side note it was an even better store than i thought it would be. While there i noticed they carried titan tools. I have heard Good things about their ratchets In several threads. The first ratchet i picked up was the 1/4" drive with hex driver on the selector side. I noticed the hex was misformed so badlt you could not even put a bit in it. No big deal so i looked at the one behind it, same problem. All 4 which were on the shelf had the same flaw.

From what i was able to gather titan is not an oem, or they have some items made for them and produce others. I end up buying the 1/4" & 3/8" gearless ratchets and a 1/4" palm ratchet. Good chrome, smooth mechanisms, everything looked up to snuff with i want to say gearwrench or better build quality.

With so much variation in the product line, does it turn you off, or do you did what i did and just cherry pick the good products. I like to think of it as Harbor Frieght mentality.

Side note before anyone says pics or didn't happen, i'm not driving back to northern for a photo. If you need to see them it was at the northern off the i35e in north dallas. Im willing bet that all the ratchets from this batch were all made incorrectly.
So should be able to see them at a northern near you.

I think that just may be the way it is. There are good Titan products and there are maybe not so good titan stuff that makes buying their stuff online risky at times. I only have a few titan items like their micro ratchet/bit driver, some hex bits, a mini pry bar, and some picks. I like all of those things.

I've noticed the ratchets with the 1/4 and the 3/8 usually look like **** regardless of the (fill in the blank cheap brand) labeling on the handle.

I have the 72t Titan in the 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive and am very, very pleased. I'd recommend them to anybody. I think they're better than the Kobalt ratchets everybody likes, and I have had both apart to compare as well. They are similar design, but not exactly the same or interchangeable.
