So I've done some searching and everyone has thier favorite expoxy floor covering. I have a new slab that I'm installing a MaxJax on it will see quite a bit of auto work so the floor needs to be tough. Any suggestions?

I think the only real consensus you're going to see is to get an epoxy that contains 100% solids. from all the reading I've done those are the better products.

If your money is growing on trees people will tell you wolverine but with all the research I've done with trying to save the most money without jeopardizing product quality or results I have narrowed it down to armorclad or budget bob's product.
I have 430 sq ft to do and both of those companies have epoxy and clear coat for under $400 shipped to your door.
Budget bob has 100% solids epoxy and polyurethane clear coat for $345 shipped

armorclad has 100% solids epoxy with waterbased clear coat for $382 shipped to your door

I am in the process of deciding between those to currently and would go with budget bob's product but I'm worried about the clear coat yellowing and need to find someone to tell me if it will or not

What about the forum sponser's site? Is this comparable to those two? http://www.epoxy-coat.com/

From my research they are higher than the other 2 I named, I personally would love to go with epoxy-coat but they will not do any better than $471 on thier price which is too high for my likings when the comparable products are $100ish cheaper. Some how they are on here giving away kits but wont meet the budget bob's price or the armorpoxy's price either :dunno:

This can't be sour grapes from not winning the contest, you did not enter. I gave you a price break for your job.
If I just gave discounts to everyone that called and wanted me to match a price, we would not be in business. You really, at that point need to compare the product and find out why we may be a bit more expensive than some others.

I have a Wolverine floor, and I would NOT do that again. Seeing as how my kickstand on my motorcycle digs it out.

I was busy framing out the shop with 2x6's. The chop saw I used made marks just sitting there.

I build hotrods and rockcrawlers. I won't ever be doing epoxy again. Get polished concrete, seal it with densifier, and have a nice and durable floor.

One suggestion.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
There is a great variance in the level of product being offered.

I am not even talking quality, that is another story, too long for this post.

I'm not whining I just can't see any difference in the actual epoxy paint all 3 are 100% solids
Since you sell the product please inform me how your epoxy paint is better than the other 2 paints named because I honestly can not see any difference therefore cannot justify paying over $100 more for epoxy coat, however if I am missing something and need to pay for something that I am not getting with them I will gladly do so!

there are huge differences in any 100% solids. Is it aliphatic or cycloaliphatic? take a look at all the data sheets on all the products involved. Not all solid epoxies are the same.

PS. I did say winning not whining

Equating all 100% solids epoxies as being equal is as accurate as saying all 4 wheel cars are equal - it's just not that simple.

Wolverine Coatings alone has hundreds of different epoxies - most all 100% solids. Each one requires research, record keeping, production standards, storage space etc., in other words they wouldn't make another epoxy unless there was a need for another epoxy. But since there are lots of different needs, there are lots of different epoxies.

And, of course, there are different prices. Various formulations have very different ingredients, some costing quite a bit more than others, and of course that will affect the final price to the consumer.

I can't stop laughing I guess when I saw grapes I automaticly read wine I guess I have wine on the brain a little too much at times ha ha. I understand no all solids are the same and I think I'm going to listen to legacy and not use budget bob, and armorclad seems so good but when asked if they are aliphatic or cycloaliphatic they replied:
"Neither. Aliphatic and Cycoaliphatics are less expensive lower grade formulations.
Ours is a proprietary military grade epoxy with an special molecular bonding additive and for obvious reasons we don’t disclose the exact formulation. We can tell you that our product with published technical specs has superior ratings and value to virtually every epoxy on the market. We are the contract supplier to the US Coast Guard and Air Force with this exact same coating system. "

So this makes me feel split lon one half they are a superior product and really good and on the other that they are hiding something that could be inferior. I dont know I guess on the uneducated end (me) it just comes down to gut feeling, with all the research I've done I still have no clue which to buy

With 100% solids you get much less time , I was told that unless you are a professional you should not use 100% solids as it dries fast. Is this true?

Our 100% solids product, HD-707, has a pot-life of 30-50 minutes at 70 degrees. Plenty of time. In fact I recommend this product over all the others for beginners, it's very forgiving.

I can't stop laughing at the BS from them!! :spit:
Our product is military grade too, we have floors layed for the Coast Guard, NASA, every branch of the military.
Sounds like they may have something to hide. :lol_hitti

Famous claims made by an epoxy company designed to impress you:
Mil Spec, government tested, USDA approved, AIB approved, Marine tested, etc....

The government is the cheapest customer around and try getting paid!!

I received the expoy coat system in about 3 days. Pretty fast shipping. Also, it was super easy to put down. The kit has just about everything except for the extensions for the rollers. I'm very happy with the results.
