Hello. I attached a photo for reference. I want to attached my garage and my house with a deck. There is already a pre-existing deck there. Anyone ever do something like this?

My cousin has a wonderful deck between his house and garage.
Over 25 years and had to replace it at least once, maybe twice.
It's nice but I'd pour concrete and be done with it.
I hate auto correct.
Wonderful=wood

Last house we built, it was "designed" with a wood bridge between the garage and house. I said "nope" and did concrete instead. Which ended up costing a bundle as we had to drill 10' piers down.

The typical reason for "attaching" a structure like this is because zoning requires "single structure" or something like that.

Whatcha after? Is it the deck that matters, having a roof on it? Etc? What's the motivation?

I would start with a structural assessment of the existing deck. Here in Vancouver, Lifestyles Outdoor Living found that the old deck was nailed together instead of using structural screws and didn’t meet frost-depth requirements. I rebuilt it, and it ended up cheaper in the long run than replacing a piece every spring. If you plan to physically connect the house to the garage, think about drainage: a wooden bridge between two structures is a prime spot for water intrusion, especially where it meets the siding. Proper flashing, a membrane on the ends of the joists, and caps on the posts saved me from problems.
