Connecting large wires

Whats the best/proper way to connect three 6awg wires together.Im running my welder outlet wiring and putting outlets on either end of the shop.I'll have junction boxes where I'll have power in and then branch off in two different directions, so there will be 9 wires in there.3 of one power leg to connect, 3 of the other power leg to connect and 3 grounds to connect.I'v heard of the split bolt connector and then electrical tape the s**t out of it , but that sounds cheesy, are there wire nut that big? or some other connector thats sealed. Throw me some ideas.

The split bolt is the best way. The power company uses the same type of connector at the weatherhead of your house. Not cheesie. You should use a rubber tape wrapped over the connector then tape over with vinyl electricians tape. I have used this type of connection in industrial applications as a standard.

They look like u-bolts for connecting wire, cant think of what there called right now.... split bolts rings a bell. You will need to wrap them with rubberized tape if you go this route. Dont use tape, buy the rubber tape...fyi its pricey

Ewwwwwwww split bolts, I don't know any electrical contractor still using them, as aceman posted, Polaris taps, much faster, great connection and easy to take apart if needed.

Now that this has been answered for the second time, can this question be edited? Connecting large wires is not bad, but wouldn't splicing wires be a better heading for future searches? Just my 2 cents.

In my experience "spliceing" has refered to tieing the ends of two wires together to make a longer one.
A lot of the time meaning to hide it in a conduit run.
As such, it isn't a good idea and all codes do not allow it.
