connector type?

I'm putting an older surround sound system in the garage for tuneage-does anyone know what type of connector this is and can I get an adaptor or new end to hook it to my roof mounted antenna with standard coax tv type ends on it.Only worried about fm signal

Looks like a BNC connector. Some antennas have this type of connector. It's pre- cable.

I had a stereo with that connector and the antenna that came with it had one thin wire that just attached to the center connector.

BNC? Looks more like a RCA jack to me.

If the outside diameter is not threaded, it's a PAL connector. You need a PAL Male to F Female adapter.

Looks like a standard 75 ohm coax to me, could be a TNC. BNC would be a bayonet (have pins on the OD).
Hard to tell the size from the picture. I'm not sure about the rectangular 2 pin AM antenna connector.

TNC is threaded on the outside like an N type.

What is the model # of the equipment?

Phillips mx3660d/37-manual just shows indoor wire type antenna-doesn't show connector type

This looks like a PAL female connector. That's the European standard connector for consumer electronics FM and TV receivers.

Radio Shack has an adaptor that's PAL male on one end and Type-F female on the other end, which looks like it could be the right one in this case. You can go to a local Radio shack and check.

If its Phillips receiver, it's a PAL. If he can't find the adapter in post #6 listed as a PAL Male to F Female, he should look for a Belling-Lee Male to Female F adapter. Same animal, different name...

Its a PAL connector also known as a Belling Lee connector. You will need the male one to connect to plug into your receiver.

it is a pal male connector but now with everything hooked up i can only get good fm signal if i only plug in the copper center wire to the adapter-as soon as the outer screw on part of the coax touches the adapter no fm-any ideas?

Confirm you have a good cable. That is the symptom of a center conductor to shield short at the connector.

Cables ok- infinite ohms with both ends disconnected-7.5k ohms through antenna at receiver end of coax-does this sound correct?

Was a bad connection inside antenna- cleaned and resoldered-all ok now thanks to all
