If you're already invested in the M18 cordless platform, why not pick up the Milwaukee nailer and give it a chance - return it if it doesn't work to your satisfaction?

That's what I'd do, before adding another battery platform.

The M18 16 gauge works fine, its the 18 gauge that can be questionable

Like Fbmoose48 said, based on what I've seen and read, the 16-gauge nailer is good to go. Its the 18-gauge that isn't so hot. I'd get the Milwaukee.

From the original post I'm not sure what type of Nailer he is looking for. Since he is talking about an 18 gauge DeWalt (20v) i am assuming trim work and not framing. There is a ton more options if you consider a small portable compressor ($150) or less and then there are a ton more options. I got a 16 gauge Nailer (pneumatic) from Hitachi which is great. For lighter trim i have a 18 gauge brad Nailer from Ridgid (18v). many options.

Only thing I know is that my dad had the dewalt and it works great.

However I would give the Milwaukee a try first as you already have their stuff

Since I already had Ridgid 18V tools and batteries, when I was home in Georgia for the holidays, I stopped by Direct Tools Outlet. They had the brushless 16 gauge Ridgid for 50 bucks (reconditioned, but it looked brand new other than being marked "RECON"). I like it, works well, heavy, but for 50 dollars, I came out on top! My $.02

I have the 18 gauge Milwaukee brad shooter and haven't had a single problem with it.. not sure why people are down on it. It's shot a couple thousand nails so far in its life without a jam or other problem...
