I'm moving to a new home, pristine 450 sq ft slab, and want a glossy but reasonably priced floor. I don't mind touching up every now and then. The Legacy HD6600MMA looks ideal for my needs. Does HD6600 require acid etching?

Yes sir. Needs some porosity.

Thanks. A couple more questions if you don't mind - I noticed the solvent-based HD6525-MMA is about the same price, is it more durable? Also, the garage will be mostly used as a light duty DIY shop, workout space, and for light motorcycle maintenance - no welding, dragging heavy stuff around, etc. How often would I likely need to recoat?

Mark, all depends on traffic and maintenance. Maybe 4-5 years.
The beauty of these sealers is the “no prep recoat”. As long as clean the next coat will weld itself to the previous. Easy Peasy!!

6600 is 30% solids, 6525 is 25%.

I've used both 6600 and Polyurea. The 6600 is on an exterior porch - I chose it for cost and because it appeared to be UV stable.

I put it down on new concrete (porous) without acid etch, so it may depend on how your concrete is finished, but I'd defer to Legacy for that. Neither product has come up at all unless I gouged it bad enough to scratch the concrete.

I like the polyurea better in terms of protection. It's also a little harder to get on evenly and probably needs 2 coats. It's more expensive, but well under epoxy...

The 6600 - we've got a hot tub out there and water can get under it where we've had cracks show up since application.

Re-application of polyurea, unless you do the whole area, you can tell the "spot reapplication". I have not tried spot applying 6600. I've had a few things get on the 6600 that I can't get up (think hot) and the polyurea seems to be a little tougher - anti-freeze, oil, gas, all wipe right up.

For a garage, I don't think you can go wrong with either. Note, both will be slick when wet.

So I installed HD-6600MMA in 2019. No real prep (new concrete). I would use this product again.

The results are a "plastic-like" covering.. It's slick, but there isn't a spot of oil on my drive that can't just be wiped up with a simple rag.

I use it exclusively outdoors (high UV area). Sidewalks, driveways, etc. I stained the concrete with a slight water based pigment a tan/brown.

Sidewalk:

It lasts (fully exposed UV + rain) about 4 years before you need to re-coat. Re-coating is dead easy, no prep. You can see the 4-5 year difference here:

Thanks for sharing your results.
When HD6600-MMA is used outside and it starts to look a little thin, it can be revitalized in many cases by misting with Xylene.
This is especially useful when you use our product over pavers. Just did this recently at my own residence and I was blown away, it made it look like brand new after almost (2) years of hard use in FLORIDA.
