My dealer got in a used Verus Edge, supposedly with current software, on trade last week. I'm looking at trading in my Solus Legend, with 20.2? software on it plus some cash.
So I'm looking for some Verus Edge feedback. I love the little Solus for fast boot time and quick identification. I do not care for the cord, or only 4 graphs on 1 screen at a time. The Verus Edge is listed with similar boot time, IF the unit is in READY mode. So can I just hang it out in READY mode 24/7 on the charger? How testy is this windows based platform? And how long are we guessing the Edge platform will be supported?
I don't -need- the updated guided component test over my 2009 updated Gen-1 Modis. I don't -need- another scope in general. I don't -need- wireless. I will LOSE DIOP function for 2016 and newer volvos, 2018+ LR/Jag. Not super worried about that, my 906 should be able to reset the oil lights. If not, we can just ship those LOFs. LOL I can never get parts anyway and Identifix has basically zero service info. It stings to consider losing capability, but I don't actually do anything to those cars except a half dozen LOFs a year. A compact scan-module is $1000, but would fix the DIOP issue. I'm pretty sure the Autel 906 can do that. More graphing is a big plus.
My thought is if I can pick this up for a few hundred and my current Solus, I'd be money ahead on an update and get the benefits of the Verus platform. Component test is nice, wireless is nice, bigger screen and more graphing of data is nice. Not sure if the platform is for me though, still thinking it over. He said he'd put a deal together for me for this monday, if it survives the gauntlet this week and nobody buys it.
