Construction (plus wildlife) camera recommendations?

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a camera to point at my barn being built? Bonus for letting me see wildlife (potentially at night) that walk around here. I'd like something that is relatively easy to set up but might sacrifice some ease for keeping the data more secure. Thanks.

One of the best and easiest cellular trail cameras out there.
I have mine out in the dead of Wisconsin winters, battery life is very good.

Plus you recieve pictures directly to your phone.

I had a trail camera and unfortunately, you can only access the data by pulling the card and looking at it on a computer.
I ended up going with an inexpensive security camera that was wi-fi enabled.
Reolink is the brand I went with and I think it was 60.00 per camera///allows me to access the camera over my phone and automatically records when movement activates it.
Hope this is helpful

I should add that this build is going to be right next to my house so I have access to power and wifi.

I'll suggest Reolink as well. You can either run a wifi camera connected to power or a PoE camera. I've had my system up for about 18 months now, and it's been solid.

I went to the Reolink website, and it seems to be a totally worthless site. Doesn't allow to see the cameras, just keeps going to the same page. Am I doing something wrong?

I bought a wingscapes, inexpensive and easy to use. Model: WCT-00122

Just check the batteries regularly if you get one, mine died mid framing ;(
Took good pictures at a set time interval.
It can also be set to motion activation.

I was used to my game cameras batteries lasting 9ish months.
Bummed I didn't get the whole build.

Working fine for me. Go to "Products" at the top of the page and select the appropriate drop down for the type of camera / system you're after.

I think I'm looking for more of a security camera, less of a trail cam.

Reolink looks good. Lots of options there. Anyone have a part number they like? Can it record to the camera or do I need the hard drive device?

I have one of the RLC-511W cameras incorporated into my system that might be a good fit for what you're after. It can store on a micro-SD card or on a NVR. You can access it through your home router on a PC, NVR, or your phone. It needs 110V power and has wifi.

Here’s a Reolink pic from last August. That camera has its own power source (solar panel), and is about 70 yards from my house, (wi-fi)

I have purchased 10 Reolink cameras, all from eBay, some have solar panels, some 110v, all Wi-Fi for personal and business use. I have not static and movable ones. Love the ease of start-up and use ability.

This is the camera that I got the pic above.

I really appreciate the feed back. I'll dig into the website a bit more to educate myself. I hadn't really considered solar because I have power and could easily do 120VAC or POE but the barn is a bit uphill from the house so solar might be easier to get a better view. Thanks again!

I've done some reading on the Reolink website and I'm back with more questions. My goals for the camera are:
  • Be able to check in on construction when I'm not home.
  • Record time lapses of build
  • Catch some wildlife video.
Questions:
  • Can I toggle between these different goals remotely?
  • How much storage does the camera have (assuming I add a 128GB SD card)? I think the most storage intensive use would be just recording the site during the day.
  • Can I set it up for constant video during the day and then motion only at night?
  • Can it record time lapse at the same time as full video? or can I process the full video into time lapse later?
Thanks!

  • Be able to check in on construction when I'm not home. I could, with my phone, live
  • Record time lapses of build recording is base on motion. I do believe I can push “record”, while watching live, and record while watching. Haven’t tried too though
  • Catch some wildlife video. Yes
Questions:
  • Can I toggle between these different goals remotely? Yes, I think so
  • How much storage does the camera have (assuming I add a 128GB SD card)? I think the most storage intensive use would be just recording the site during the day. A lot. Using these cameras in business, they record by motion 16 hrs a day. Every Three months I have to format.
  • Can I set it up for constant video during the day and then motion only at night? Motion only day and night
  • Can it record time lapse at the same time as full video? or can I process the full video into time lapse later? I’d answer process later.
I’m not the most experienced fellow using this brand of camera, yet they work for me.

I found a good place that has a 120VAC outdoor outlet and strong wifi signal. I found the RLC-511W ~1/2 off on ebay new but with a slightly smooshed box. Thanks for all the input. I'll start a thread for my build and hopefully post up some pictures.
