I was wondering if I can use a standard walk behind concrete saw or do I need a soft cut saw? I am getting ready for the pour in a day or to.

The soff-cut saw is designed for cutting joints immediately after finishing, which is the best way to avoid random cracks.

You'll have to wait at least 24 hours before using a normal floor saw or risk a raveled joint. It will work fine but you run the risk of cracks occurring before you cut.

Keep slab moist to avoid shrinkage cracks

Cut control joints every 10' on center.
