converting a barn into a workshop insulation question

I have a barn in the back of my property 20x40 with a foundation and dirt on the floor. I wanted to put a floor in the building and heat it. In my research looks like they recommend putting a vapor barrier on the dirt and insulating the block walls.

I wanted to get some advice on how some of the users here might deal with this issue.

doing 2x12 for the floor joist and plywood insulating the rest of the building and providing heat.

Advice on if this is good to go with the vapor barrier on the floor and insulating the walls of the building.

My instinct is the raised floor can create moisture problems. It's seems like you are creating a crawl space, and there is a lot of concensus that the crawl should be included in the conditioned space. Insulate the walls, put a really good vapor barrier on the ground. Do not insulate between the floor joists. Almost guaranteed to have moisture problems.


Why not put down a gravel base, foam, and concrete?
