Converting a two post lift by adding ramps

I have a two post lift and lowered sports car. I wish I could spread the arms out appropriately and bolt aluminum ramps or similar to them. Then I could have the best of both worlds in my opinion. I could drive right up in the ramps and lift. I have seen the wheel cradle attachments but not sure if the arms will reach that far.

I don't see why you could not do that with a center of balance assesment and proper wheel chock devices. The aluminum fab will need proper design and likely will be rather pricey.

Seems like if your lift has sufficient capacity and you can center the load front to back, it wouldn’t be hard

I saved these screenshots years ago in case I ever got a round Tuit.IMG_0697.jpegIMG_0014.png

The tractor bars are commercially available, I found them on TractorTimeWithTim. No personal experience with either.
The bars referenced above look duplicatable with stuff I have laying around right now. My GTO has to be ramped or jacked at least 3“ to get my 2post arms to clear the cladding, so I have been pondering longitudinal or transverse ramps for a while.

Why don't you just get 4 pieces of a 2X6, park the car, drive it up onto the pieces of wood and then use the lift line normal. When lowering, just set the car down on the pieces of wood. You shouldn't need that much room for a Corvette.

I keep thinking about building cradles that would connect across to the other side, just for storage. Would be a much stronger design than the commercial cradles. If I build my own I could at least try to be cute about not flat spotting the tires.

One thing about a storage lift, though, you need something that doesn’t leak at all on top.

I have no interest in converting it for ease of loading, though. Just would like to pick up a car with the suspension compressed.
