I am thinking of converting my electric spring loaded garage door into a manual door for ceiling clearance for my lift. Is there anything special that needs to be done on an aluminum spring loaded door or can i just remove the motor and the center track?

I was going to replace the door with a track and get a direct drive side mount but i have cabinets along the side wall that i would not be able to use due to the door rails.

Thanks

I have 4 direct drive side mount units and they only take up about the size of a 12 pack of Coke. I highly recommend them. The simply attach to the bar at the top of the door.

as mentioned in my post its not the motor that takes up the space.. its the track/rails that the door has to slide on. The will block 3 of my 4 cabinets....

If you've got a 1 piece door, just pull the opener off the cieling! Done deal..t

and just install a handle on the outside. this is what i figured but wanted to make sure there was nothing else i had to change out.
