Hi everyone.

Can someone help me convert in/ft to a degree taper.

I’m interested to know what 1/8” per foot is in degree taper?

Thank you.

You can use trig to solve this.

If you have a slope that goes down 1/8" over 1 foot, you would take the inverse tangent of .125/12.

In which case, the "angle" of the slope is 0.5968 degrees with respect to horizontal.

Thanks locksmith.

I understand your formula.

What do you mean with respect to the horizontal?

I did a quick calculation. Seems to agree with American Locomotive. Here is how I did it:
a 24" circle (1' radius) is 75.3982236862" in circumference (24*Pi.) Divide that by 360 for .2094395102"/deg. Divide .125 by .2094395102 gives you the answer .5968310367 deg

Edit: for fun I went back and carried out a few more decimal places.
