Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a Jenny G3s-30 fire sprinkler compressor to a regular shop compressor? Any help would be much appreciated.

Is there a tank on it? you should check to see if it has pressure ratings
I'm sure the pump will be fine, but the motor Horse power may be too low to build higher pressures . the on /off pressure switch will either have to be adjusted , but likely replaced
what sort of unloader does it use? is it part of the pressure switch?

The type they use for dry systems are pretty small. I’m sure it’ll work but don’t expect too much out of it. And like cobbler said, these operate at low pressure so maybe you’ll get lucky and not need to replace the pressure switch and the unloader.

I read the specs & it looks like it can do 1800 gallons at 40 psi in 30 minutes . based on a similar model number

I'd also worry about the duty cycle - it may run long enough to charge a FE tank, but I'm not sure it would maintain a normal shop tank. All in all, tho, it shouldn't take that much to rig something to try it out, and if it doesn't work, no harm, no foul.

And to reiterate, make sure that your tank is rated for the pressure you intend to use. We don't want to see your shop in the WTF thread.

Don't waste your time and money. You won't be happy with it. Preaction fire system compresors only run up to 40 Psig.

I see the same "G" pump on their page mounted to a portable compressor. 13.8 cfm @ 100psi with a 3hp motor or 18.3cfm @ 100psi with a 5 hp motor. 125psi max.
Looks like changing a pressure switch and the motor pulley would get you a well made single stage compressor.
