I have the 3/4'' maxline kit. My plan is to run it from the compressor straight up and over 18' then install an elbow and run it close to 10'. When I make my drop I want to convert it to black pipe and run it like this http://www.tptools.com/Water-Separator-and-Regulator-Piping-Kit,7428.html?b=d*8092 This kit is 1/2'' The fittings for the maxline are pretty expensive this is why I like to convert it to the black pipe kit above. I feel like it would be cheaper.
Is this safe to do and will I have any major pressure drop going from 3/4'' to 1/2'' pipe size.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

If you haven't even installed the plastic/aluminum Maxline yet, then I'd just sell that kit cheap on CL and build the airline system you really want with blackpipe steel. A lot depends on what all you'll be doing in garage . . . any painting, blast cabinet, etc that will take really dry air, and lots of it??

Likely 1/2" blackpipe steel will do everything you need, but if you want overkill then go with 3/4" mainline and 1/2" drops. That's the benefit of blackpipe steel (along with low cost) . . ie Build it once to last a lifetime.

Tell us what all your plans are . . . . what size is compressor?? What is overall length of airline system you'll want??

Sandblasting and possible some light painting. Hopefully make a little money on the side with and powder coating. Not looking to get rich by no means but a little helps. The system that I think will work for me is the one I described but not sure if mixing the different sizes and different pipes would cause problems. Garage size is 24x28.
Compressor size is 80 g 5h 2 stage 19 scfm@ 100 psi. It's an Eaton so I think it's plenty big for what I want to do.
You mentioned about selling the maxline. That is an option but also thought about keeping it around too just in case. Someday down the road we may add to the garage.
