A forum dedicated to awesome garages! Sweet!

I'm in Salt Lake City. We built our house last year and moved in August. It has a 1400 square foot garage. 18 foot double door 8 feet tall, 12 foot single door 10 feet tall. 2/3s of it is 42 feet deep. We fully insulated the walls, had the builder finish the sheetrock and texture the ceiling. I bought an airless sprayer and painted the whole thing. I have also finished the floor with the Rustoleum Epoxy-Shield professional floor coating. We park three cars in it and one Rock Buggy. I'll post a pic of the buggy, I built it in about 6 months from a pile of tube. I use the 25 X 25ish deep section as a shop. I do a lot of metal fabrication and custom off-road type stuff in there.

Currently the garage is a mess. I've been concentrating on a million other projects around the house and I'm just starting to think about the garage. It has to be functional, because I do a lot of work in there. I want it to look clean and organized. I think I want almost everything in cabinets, rather than open shelves. I've looked at the gladiator, stanley, craftsman, ultimate garage, and a million other products. I've also looked at converting metal office cabinets for this use. So far I'm leaning towards the Ultimate Garage stuff because of the price, aesthetics, and selection. I will put all the cabinets on wheels so they can be moved around for cleaning.

Other garage projects on the horizon are:

Lighting: I have 11 8' 3 tube lights, 8 of which are planned for the garage.

Attic insulation: Most of it is uninsulated right now, I want to blow in insulation after I'm done wiring lights up there.

Loft: I want a 5x25 foot loft along the back of the shop area. Hopefully you guys can help me design a sufficient beam so I don't need any columns.

Misc metal/parts storage tub: I built a 12'x4' welding table on nice wheels. I want to build a 3'x8' wheeled tub to roll under the welding table for misc tube, axles, and large parts. I'm going to use some chainlink fence parts that I removed from my back yard to build this.

Look forward to using this forum. Here's a couple pics.

Cool, another pipe-kinker in the house!!!

I dig the buggy. Whatcha got in it?

Well, the one thing that's not in it is pipe. :)

4.0l straight six, auto ******, Atlas 3.8. Narrowed 35 spline 60s, 5.38s, Eaton Electric Lockers. 37x12.50x17 Maxxis Trepadors on Champion Aluminum beadlocks. Swayaway 14" coilovers. PRP suspension race seats. Some pretty good parts. I built to for the Uroc modified class where I competed every year that it existed. Unfortunately they cancelled it this year so I'm doing a lot more trails. Probably sell it and build something new I've got kick'n around in my head, maybe next winter. It was in a lot better shape before it sat outside for 6 months while we built the house. Just starting to work it back into shape.

You've kinked some tube? Got pics?

Haha... Pipe is for poop! Just joking there :wtf: :lol_hitti

Sounds like you've got a nice setup going there.

Yep, I've kinked a little DOM in my day. I run a full hydro JD2 with lots of dies.
Here's the last thing I bent:

Here's my current project (no tube yet, but it has some other "stuff" in it):

Cool projects! I want to take a Nissan Frontier 4 door cab, and build a buggy around the cab. It'll be a lot bigger than the buggy I have now, but it will hold my little boy too. I should be able to build it to go "almost" anywhere my buggy will go. I'm kind of interested in desert trucks lately too. I have a manual JD2 model 3 at home. I've spent a lot of time behind a Pro Tools hydraulic bender. I find I have trouble getting two bends in the same plane with the Pro Tools.
