Cool Dart Board Cabinets?

I'm putting a dartboard cabinet in the garage and have been a bit disappointed with the offerings I've seen on most cabinets. Kinda cheap, or cheesy... you just see the same old graphics on veneered material.

Since I don't have the time to make my own out of maple, I was hoping someone would have a creative idea for re-purposing an existing cabinet. Maybe like those old spark plug cabinets, or a fire hose cabinet? Adapting something vintage or interesting would be about as good as building one myself... I just don't know what I'm looking for yet. Anybody got a good idea for me?

Sounds like you've already got some good ideas. Time to check out some local salvage dealers, craigslist, your own garage, etc., and see what's available.

The old pub standard over here was to mount it in the middle of an old tyre cut in half around the middle of the tread.

I am in the same boat at the moment. Check out the "rustic dart board cabinet" on Etsy with the target painted on the front. I'm hoping to get around to making something similar soon out of salvaged timber.

Check out used office furniture/equipment stores for a whiteboard cabinet. They are typically used in conference rooms or executive offices to house the whiteboard in a cabinet that matches the rest of the room's furniture. Typically about 4 ft square and 4 inches deep. I've seen some really nice ones made out of cherry, walnut and other woods, and they're definitely a step above what you've found to date.
