Good adjustables hold their size with use. A high quality adjustable should be enough.

Those Snap-On adjustables with the 3/8" drive hole are really cool tools.

When it comes to adjustables, you can add up all the ones in the first post, and you still won't have one of these:

I traded in a Snappy 3/8" impact on one of those adjustable wrenches, and am very happy with it. Excellent tool, stays exactly where it's set without any play. Snap-On actually mounts the adjustment worm-gear on roller bearings. :)

me too I got two one from son in seatle and one from sister inlaw but then again the other sister inlaw gavr me one of those B+D screwdrivers that runs on 4 AAA bateries

Seems to me that the lever lock puts extra clamping force on there, so the wrench can't be angled outward from what it is tightened onto (or at least not as easily). I tried wedging a toothpick in the gear of a small adjustable wrench, so it would stay "locked", and it did, but that doesn't keep it from being angled off the fastener when it is pulled outward. Maybe that isn't usually a problem, just a functional difference between them.

It does, and this used to be my go-to tool when I wanted to turn something with two flats what was in danger of being rounded by a regular wrench. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the Knipex Plierswrench has even more clamping force, and is even better suited for that task. Since I've gotten my first (out of five now) Plierswrench, I've hardly used this thing. It is just too slow to open and adjust, that I only use it when I want to clamp it and leave it clamped on something.

To be fair, while the OP's request for a locking adjustable wrench with a slide adjuster and soft grip has not been sold yet, Craftsman only this year started selling their version of the locking adjustable wrench, and it has a rubber grip, so we're now halfway there. It only took 11 years. LOL.

Those seem to be the only ones made in multiple sizes, I wonder how many toothpicks that's worth.

I mean, it's good that the plier wrenches work for you (that's just me). I was looking here to see if I'd missed any others, and thought to do a little test between the Stanley locking mechanism vs a Crescent being otherwise locked tight.
