Yes, this is nothing new, except maybe the size. A 6' tape measure would be much more useful as it could do more than measure the section of a table, or a piece of paper sitting on it, and should be more accurate. This seems totally useless to me.

My wife is an architect and she has this little scale she uses to measure things on scaled drawings. It's got 1":1/4" and 1":1/2" on one side and 1":3/8" and 1":3/16" on the other side.

The audible feedback and larger scale on the posted device would make it more suitable for larger scales. For those saying it won't replace a tape measure, of course it won't. But there are things this will do that a tape could not. It's why we Al have drawers full of different screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc. Right tool for the right job and all that.

For measuring material, like cloth for sewing with curves in the pattern, I could see that being useful.

It's neat. A bit pricey, but neat. I don't have such FOMO that I'm going to back the kickstarter, but I would consider buying one if it were available.

What's the next-best option for EDC measuring tools? The Milwaukee mini measuring tape perhaps? I'd rather have that to measure, but not to carry. The Dewalt version is longer, but larger still. Anything other tiny options for measuring something that's feet-long and not inches (e.g. I'm thinking of measuring tasks where the side of a multi-tool is impractical).

It WOULD be even cooler if it were a ring you could wear, but alas...

I can't even keep from losing tape measures, and they're multiple times the size of those!

This is gimmicky. If you need to measure an irregularly shaped object then you are better off with a fabric tape measure. Far less expensive than the $89 retail price they are asking for. You also have to keep track of the clicks on your own so you better not get distracted or accidentally double count a click. Also, if you are buying something that lists fidget spinner as one of its many functions that should set off a red flag that you are buying ****. However, if this really appeals to you then be sure to pick up this box cutter that would really go well with it.

Could you imagine measuring a whole wall like that?
Reminds me - a lot of people have a similarly accurate measuring device already in their pocket. I know Apples measure app works surprisingly well if used properly and for larger things. If it is a model with the lidar camera it seems to be accurate to under a centimeter.

Won't beat a measure tape any time soon, but works in a pinch and way more handy than a dedicated tiny fidget ruler like that. I'd rather have a tiny tape measure instead, if that were the choice.
