I saw this cool oil filter wrench on ebay. It has a different shape, compared to the standard one with three arms.
Also, it looks like it has a spring to close the wrench on the filter. It looks like it might grip the filter better.

With the standard 3-arm wrench I have to use an extra hand just to keep the wrench on the filter.

This one on ebay claims to be USA made.

We use those in my shops, Lisle makes the ones we have. An excellent wrench on the V-6 transverse Toyota engines where the filter is under the exhaust manifold. We keep a replacement spring on hand just in case.

I use the smaller one almost everyday, its my favorite method of oil filter removal. I need to get the larger one.

I'm surprised - never seen one like that at autozone before. You mean the one on the left or right? I see the 3-arm ones all the time.

They have the right one at autozone. In fact they have both.

My uncle game me the one on the right not too long ago. He had it for 20 years. By far better than those damn caps. I change filters on many cars so I rather not have those caps.

Man Ive been trying to find a better mouse trap for my 5VZ-FE (99 Tacoma) since I got the darn thing. Do you go at it from above with a long extension or below with a swivel head or flex ratchet...seems like I need to be Gumby no matter how I go at it:headscrat

The one on the right is most certainly a Lisle piece... although I think OTC also sells a version of both. I sold one on here awhile back to someone. I forget who.
