I saw this on CL and just had to have it. I don't need it, don't have space for it and it's entirely impractical. But it's cool.

I'd like some help identifying it and would appreciate any advice on what I should and shouldn't do with regard to preserving its value (if any).

It's missing the handle unfortunately and I'd like to know if it's worth making a new one or trying to track down an original.

I think it still works. I haven't had time to mess with it but the jack goes up and down by pulling on it and will lock in place. The large wheels roll smoothly. One rear wheel is caked with mud and doesn't move. I don't see anything attached to the locking mechanism so once it's up, the only way I found to lower it is to reach underneath and release it while holding the jack.

Thanks for looking.

Here it is next to a standard floor jack for size comparison.

I was going to say Walker just by the large "W" on the side of the jack. Cool find though, and well worth restoring back to like new condition, and use it for another 75 years or so.

It's amazing looking at it next to that sleek modern racing jack. The Walker just has so much character. I can't wait to tinker with it.

If you restore it (which I would), make sure you start a restoration thread on it for all to see how you do it. You may also want to look at BB767's thread and see the restoration he did on a newer Walker jack. He had his powdercoated in the original colors.

Thanks, Kevin. I'll be sure to do that.

I love my Walker mechanical jack! It is flawless and designed to lift up cars from the 20-40's. Plus if you want you can leave the car on it while you work under it-if you want. I still would use stands but unless something physically breaks it can be used in conjunction with stands.
